PUBLIC NOTICE
AMENDMENT TO THE LINCOLN COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to amend the County Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP). The Board will be accepting written comments beginning on September 30th, 2026 and will hold a public hearing scheduled for 10:00am on November 2nd, 2026. Written comments during this period may be submitted to Daniel Calcote, Lincoln County Administrator at 301 South 1st Street, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
The proposed amendment would add a new Class I Rubbish Disposal site operated by Magnolia Disposal Services. The proposed site is located at 1670 California Road NW, Brookhaven, MS 39601. Section 12, Township 8 North, Range 6E. The proposed site will cover 46.64 acres and accept only nonhazardous Class I and Class II rubbish as defined by Mississippi’s Nonhazardous Solid Waste Management Regulations. Only wastes generated in the state of Mississippi within 100 miles of Brookhaven, MS will be accepted. The proposed modification has been requested by Magnolia Disposal Services, 104 Lance Alworth Drive, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
The plan modification documents can be reviewed at the Lincoln County Governmental Complex at 301 South 1st Street, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
A public hearing to invite comments regarding the project is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday, November 2nd, 2026 which is immediately after the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisor’s meeting. The meeting and hearing will be held in the Board Meeting Room at the Lincoln County Governmental Complex. Any interested parties are invited to attend. Comments will be accepted at this meeting, or can be mailed to:
Board of Supervisors, 301 South First Street, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
Mailed comments must be received by Thursday, October 29th for consideration by the Board of Supervisors.
