PUBLIC NOTICE
OF INVITATION FOR BIDS FOR AGRICULTURAL LEASE
Notice is hereby given by the Board of Trustees of the Brookhaven School District that sealed bids will be received by said Board until 11:00am on the 23rd day of June, 2026 in the Office of the Superintendent of the District at Brookhaven, Mississippi, for an Agricultural lease on the following described Sixteenth Section Public School Trust Lands situated in Lincoln County, Mississippi, to wit:
SECTION 16, TOWNSHIP 7 NORTH, RANGE 8 EAST
A parcel of land containing 10.45 acres, more or less, situated in the Southeast ¼ of the Southwest ¼ of Section 16, Township 7 North, Range 8 east, Lincoln County, Mississippi.
A parcel of land containing 4.00 acres, more or less, situated partly in the Southeast ¼ of the Southwest ¼ and partly in the Southwest ¼ of the Southwest ¼, all being in Section 16, Township 7 North, Range 8 east, Lincoln County, Mississippi, for a total acreage of 14.45 acres
The lease shall be for a term of five (5) years. The form of the lease has been prescribed by the Board of Education and is now on file in the Office of the Superintendent of Education, and interested parties may inspect the same during regular office hours.
Bid proposal forms may be obtained from the Office of Superintendent of Education. Bids shall be submitted for the entire parcel. A minimum bid of $381.00 will be required. Only the annual rental shall be subject to bid. A certified check in the amount of the rental should be included with the bid when submitted. Bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes, addressed to the Board of Education of the Brookhaven School District and plainly marked on the outside of the envelope “BID FOR AGRICULTURAL LEASE ON 14.45 acres in Section 16, Township 7N, Range 8E”. Checks will be returned to unsuccessful bidders.
The Board has the right to accept or reject any or all bids. The aforesaid land is being offered for lease under the provisions of Section 29-3-41 of the Mississippi Code Annotated (1972) amended. Publish by order of the Board of Education of the Brookhaven School District.
